Norm creativity with kids – how does it work?
How to work with anti-discrimination issues with children at home, in kindergarten and schools? How to avoid treating boys and girls differently? How can we use books and literature to give children best guidance to become more of themselves, challenging the norms of society? This lecture will give you the basics of understanding norm critique and a practical approach on how to reach children beyond the norms. A lecture with tips and advises to inspire everyone dealing with children how to think, act and read in more norm critique ways.
Johanna Ivarsson is a trained social worker and has worked with children and youth within the Swedish school system for many years and is now a lecturer at Malmö University at the Institution of Social Work. The main focus for her work has been children´s rights, equality, democracy and human rights. Her first book published september 2015: Norm Creativity in Preschools – Norm Critique and Equality Tools, 3rd edition coming december 2018. And her second book, Feasts and Holidays in our multicultural year, will be published january 2019.
